Standards for Teachers

Preparing Our Teachers for 21st Century Education

As students who have grown up with technology enter Texas classrooms, it is essential that all professional educators acknowledge that the world in which they live today, and the world that their students will enter as adults, is radically different from what existed in even the fairly recent past. Teachers must be able to prepare students for their future in a manner that assures that all students will not simply survive, but truly thrive in a world that awaits them.

Texas Education Agency

Midlothian ISD has developed a series of technology assessments for teachers which are designed to meet the Educator Preparation & Development expectations of federal and state mandates. These assessments are known as The MISD Techknowledgy Standards for Teachers. Broken into three entities, each assessment level challenges teachers to demonstrate mastery of skills in the Foundation, Information Acquisition, Solving Problems, and Communications areas as addressed in the 8th grade Technology Application TEKS. In addition, Level Three addresses the planning, organization, delivery, and assessment skills teachers need to effectively integrate technology skills into the classroom. Level Three will be offered to teachers beginning with the 2007-08 school year.

District Requirements

Teachers new to the district are required to complete Level One and Level Two of the assessments over a two year period. In addition, campus administration may set higher standards for all teachers to achieve mastery of the upper level assessments. Level Three is not required
